Special Award Ceremony 2014
SIMS holds The Special Award Ceremony each year to award and celebrate achievement of excellence, which is a never ending endeavour for a student and the teacher alike. At SIMS, we have a system of rewarding the outstanding students who had brought laurels to the Institute in the tenure of Two Academic years. This includes appreciating the students for their excellence in various disciplines like the academics, discipline, general proficiency, and extra-curricular activities.
KALEIDOSCOPE – WHERE WIT MEETS RECREATION
KALEIDOSCOPE is an Intra College General Management fest organised every year by the HR Club.The event include management games,Case Studies and competitions for students. Judges for the event were Mr Vikram Kulkarni- L&D Head Steria India Ltd. And Mrs Sapna Jain- Director Manav Synthetics and Manav Engineering. The Event comprised of three rigorous rounds which involved online quiz, crossword puzzle and relay case study presentations.
Orion2014 is the Annual Management Festival of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), conceptualized and executed by the Student Managers of SIMS.The event was held on the 18th and 19th January, 2014. The motto of Symbiosis International University is to integrate the world into one family and at SIMS we aimed to do just that by providing people from all over, a dais, to participate, play and be the victor at Orion 2014.
Barcode 2013, themed “Labyrinth” was the best one yet with a kaleidoscope of varied events from brainstorming business plans to crazy face paintings. Ten participants entered the managerial maze and one was left standing, battling thirty six hours of non-stop events for the coveted title of BEST MANAGER. On one end one could see the berserk treasure thirsty teams decoding the clues and the portrayal of crazy ideas for ads and on the other end, the serious and grilling brain racking of the SUPER TEN fighting for the battle of the “fittest”.
This event organized by “Infinite” on the theme: “Rupee depreciation and its repercussions.” It comprised of a panel discussion comprising of Mr Ravi Sathe, retired consultant advisor at Tata Sons, Mr. Venkatraman GS , Chief Risk Officer, Mind Tree Ltd. This event, also saw the expert views of Mr. Vikrant Ponkshe, CEO Cosmos Bank.. During the event, the winners of the Intraday stock trading event “Vyapaar”, organized by Infinite were awarded.
STRATEGEM - RUPEE DEPRECIATION AND ITS REPERCUSSIONS
HR A STRATEGIST
This year’s theme was “HR- A Strategist?” The event started with a laminating speech by Mr. Vijay Iyer, CLO, Deloitte. Thereafter followed a panel discussion comprising of Mrs. Anita, the Associate Vice President of Human Re-sources at Sandvik; Mr. S. Narayanan, the senior manager of Human Resources at MPhasis; Mrs. NidhiDhanju, Head Learning and Development at Thermax; Mr. Ranjit K, HR Manager – India Middle East, Hayworth and Mr. Bhanu Sharma. The discussion was moderated by an ex-ceptionally profound gentleman, Lt. Col. Sunil Brijkrishnan.
Reaching out to Rural India: Way forward to CSR
The theme was, ‘Reaching out to Rural India: – Way for-ward to CSR’. It aimed at changing the way the landscape of organizational and rural India is viewed. Thereafter, followed a panel discussion that had personalities like, Mr. ShirangDha-vale, Divisional manager, CSR, Tata Motors, Mr. PopatraoPawar, Executive Chairman, AdarshaGaonYojana, Governmant of Maharaashtra, Mr. Pradeep Lokhande, CEO, Rural Relations, Pune, Ms. Ka-dambariLokhande, Co-ordinator, Rural Relations, Pune, Mr. RavindraSangvi, General Manager, College of Agriculture Banking, Pune and Mr. Yatish Singh. The moderator for the discussion was Prof. Londhe, Dy Director, SIMS.
TEACH FOR INDIA
Ms. Mistri spoke about the importance of being different and trusting one self. ‘It is important to have belief and not judge yourself’, she said. She also emphasized on the fact that a person does not have to be different to be different. He must be different when it matters. While delivering her talk to the student managers at SIMS, she narrated to them some of the key experiences in her life and how they shaped her outlook and way of viewing the world. Speaking about the aim and vision of Teach for India, she said that her organization aims to redraw the country in such a way that every Indian would be proud of.
Mr. Bharucha in SIMS
Mr. Bharucha has been in the business for well over 40 years and has seen, recorded and reported on some of the greatest events in the 20th century. He has covered a wide array of topics, from interviewing Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on floods in Pakistan, to the Irish Republican Army issues. A director, producer, writer and novelist, his latest achievement was making a group of restless management students sit up in awe and pay attention on a Saturday morning.
