    Leed’s – an International City

Students from around the globe choose to study in Leeds, making it one of the most popular student destinations in the UK. This multicultural city is bustling with energy and excitement, and has something to offer everyone. Leeds has a population of 720,000, making it the third largest UK city. With a student population of over 200,000, Leeds is the most popular choice of university destination in the United Kingdom. Its central location makes Leeds an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the UK, with London only a 30-minute flight or 2-hour train journey away. There’s an international airport just outside the city, so you can easily visit other European destinations such as Paris, Prague or Barcelona.

The cost of living is lower in Leeds than in most other parts of the UK. The city was recently named ‘The most cost effective place to study in Britain’ by the RBS Student Living Index 2007. The city has made considerable investment in its students and offers arguably the best student facilities in the country. Once you start at Leeds Met you realise just how much the University is part of the city, with partnerships with local business, education and sports organisations. The Business School recently launched the Leeds International Students and Business network which offers both face to face and online opportunities for businesses and students to liaise.

    The Programme of Study

Following an agreement between your university and Leeds Beckett University, you are able to join some of our Masters programme with credit transfer and achieve the award of Master of Arts in International Business or Master of Science in Management or Master of Science in Finance , all internationally recognised qualifications. The MSc Management can help you develop the skills you will need to progress as an effective manager. You will acquire the competence and confidence to address the demands placed upon managers, providing you with a recognised qualification and a platform from which to progress in your chosen field. The MA International Business offers an opportunity to study the conceptual and practical demands of international business and the management of cultural diversity. This course will combine the development of the practical skills of facilitating the successful operation of an internationally-focused concern with the enhancement of the individuals’ personal and intellectual development. While the course allows specialisation through option choice, the main emphasis is upon the development of generic qualities and abilities relevant to international business. This emphasis is justified because of the need in modern international organisations for functional flexibility, inter-departmental and inter-professional collaboration, and organisational capability. The MSc Finance is designed for aspiring finance professionals who want to gain specialist knowledge and skills. The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, flexibility and skills base required for seeking employment in the increasingly complex and demanding financial services sector. The MSc Finance explores the theoretical underpinnings and current practice in finance from different perspectives and from both national and international contexts. The course has a strong international dimension and we attract students from countries as diverse as China, India, and Vietnam.

In Leeds you will study 3 subjects [modules] which will vary depending on the course and what studies you have completed at SIMS. You will also undertake a Research Methods module and a Personal Development Planning module. Finally you will complete a Dissertation, an independent piece of research which you will prepare under the supervision of an individual mentor.

The Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) was founded on 1 April 2009 through the merger of the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) and the FHVR Berlin, a university of applied sciences for administration and law. The new Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) decisively strengthens the German capital’s position as a location for tertiary level education and research.

The BSEL is ranked among the largest Universities of Applied Sciences in Berlin. It can leverage over 30 years of expertise and experience from both former Universities, each widely recognized as expert in their own fields. In the course of the merger, the specialized disciplines within the individual Universities have been strengthened and expanded. While the programmes at the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) and University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Law (FHVR) were already prominent in their field in Berlin, throughout Germany and, in many cases, internationally, the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) aims to further evolve and promote these competences.

Berlin is a bustling European metropolis, known for its vibrant cultural scene that offers everything from world-renowned orchestras and UNESCO world heritage sites to lively galleries, clubs, and street cafés. And so that you can mix business with pleasure, the Berlin School of Economics and Law offers summer courses lasting three to four weeks which not only teach you Business and Economics and/or German but also provide you with real insight into Berlin in all its diversity.

Bremen’s Summer School Programme is an excellent opportunity to live and study in Germany. It offers you an unique experience by attending courses at the Hochschule Bremen, participating in international students’ life, and discovering Bremen and exploring Europe. The programme combines high quality studies with a wide range of cultural and leisure activities. And Bremen is a beautiful and vibrant student town in the North of Germany where students feel welcome and comfortable. That’s more than one good reason to visit Bremen and enjoy a great summer at the International Summer School!
